The "HEARTBEAT" of Sallisaw First
Serving others anywhere and everywhere.

At Sallisaw First Assembly, we share the heart of Jesus - to seek and save what is lost. That's one of the many reasons we have a heart for missions-- at home and abroad.

If you want a place to serve with like-minded people, come and be a part of giving to others! Energize your life and find purpose by doing for those who can't do for themselves.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. Acts 1:8—First Assembly believes this is the pattern for accomplishing mission outreach. As a body of believers, we must reach beyond the four walls of our building. To be fruitful, you must go to work in the field.

Sallisaw is our Jerusalem. It is where we live and where we are to make the most impact. Our mission is to be the light that illuminates the way to Jesus. We also seek to show compassion through local practical ministries like Soup n’ Soulz, which is impacting the recovering and homeless community. We support Sallisaw Catholic Charities, a local compassion ministry that provides needed physical supplies to individuals and families. We support the ministry to teachers and students at our local schools. We work with the local Pastor’s Fellowship on community projects and fellowships.

Sequoyah County and Oklahoma are our Judea and Samaria. We recognize our responsibility to see beyond our backyard and to help. Destry and Cynthia Dobbs were members of our church before starting their ministry as Chi Alpha directors. We support their efforts at the University of Tulsa and Tulsa Community College (TCC). We also support Teen Challenge of Oklahoma and its various campuses across the state.

To the Ends of the Earth. We support missionaries across the United States and worldwide as they endeavor to meet the needs of the people they serve. Whether it is spiritual needs, physical needs, or emotional needs, they are the hands and feet of Jesus. One of those missionaries serving outside the U.S. is Tim Land, who grew up in Sallisaw First. He, along with his wife Jenny, is serving in South Africa. Sallisaw First not only supports these individuals directly through the National Assemblies of God Missions program, but also supports their various ministry needs like Speed the Light [120 Youth], BGMC [His Kids], Light for the Lost [Men’s Ministry], and Women’s Ministry [WM’s] pledges.
